Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Girl Scout cookies are back!

Girl Scout cookie sales began January 13 and will continue through March 13.  You can purchase the cookies for $3.50 a box in eight different varieties- Thin Mints, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Carmel deLites, Thanks-A-Lot, Shout Outs! and Lemonades.  After the yearly cookie sales, the girls from the different troops decide how to spend their earnings by planning projects and goals to learn valuable lifelong skills.  You can find a nearby cookie sale by visiting gsnim.org or using the new iTunes app.

Congratulations to the winners of the Ginerbread House Decorating Contest sponsored by the Downtown Auburn Business Association.  The following children won first place for their age group: Missy Jaregui, Jessie Jaregui, and Keagan Yarian.  Each winner received an iPod Shuffle for all of their hard work!

Special Olympics athletes advance to state

AUBURN — Several Special Olympics Indiana athletes from DeKalb County advanced to the state competition in Indianapolis Dec. 3 as winners in a recent area tournament at Pro Bowl West in Fort Wayne. Advancing to state are are Macauley Graham, Isaiah McNall, Jeffrey Minch, Christopher Teets, Justin Rogers, Jessica Fowler, Rachel Holsinger, Justin Randol, James Greer, Jeff Claussen, Jon Sheeler and Chistopher Willams.
